Capturing a child’s first birthday is a cherished moment for any parent, and this recent cake smash session perfectly encapsulated the magic of this milestone. As with any milestone session, I like to include a few portraits of the baby by themselves and/or with a parent before things start to get messy. Lennox’s cake smash took place in my natural light studio, with a fine art, hand-painted backdrop and a few pieces of vintage furniture.
What is a cake smash session?
A cake smash is a fun and playful photo session typically held to celebrate a child’s first birthday. The baby gets his or her very own cake and gets to smash it, play with it, and make a big mess! The goal is to capture your child’s excitement and happiness as they explore the cake, creating cute (and often hilarious) pictures that everyone will love. It’s such a fun way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday!
