Some birthdays are memorable because of a great dinner or a thoughtful gift. Others are unforgettable for reasons that have nothing to do with cake or candles, like when this mom finally held her brand-new baby in her arms.
That’s exactly what happened for this South Jersey mom. She welcomed her sweet baby girl just a couple of weeks before her own birthday and celebrated this new season of life with a newborn photography session on her special day. It also happened to be baby girl’s original due date. That full-circle moment made everything feel even more meaningful.
As a Haddonfield newborn photographer, I’ve been lucky to witness a lot of tender milestones over the years, but this one felt especially significant. Becoming a mother transforms you in ways you can’t always explain, and for this mama, it was a birthday she’ll never forget.
Newborn sessions are always full of little in-between moments—tiny fingers gripping yours, wide-eyed stares, and the kind of exhaustion that’s equally matched by awe. There’s something about those early days: the beautiful messiness, the laughter, the blur.
This particular session had all of that and more. Big brother brought the full force of toddler energy. One minute he was sprinting laps around the room, the next he was climbing over to check out my camera. It was wild in the best way, and so true to this season of life with two little ones.
Meanwhile, baby girl snoozed contentedly through the noise, wrapped snuggly and as peaceful as could be. And her parents? Calm, patient, and rolling with it all—total pros! There were moments of calm tucked into the whirlwind, and that’s often where the most meaningful images live.
One of the things I hear most often from new parents is, “I want photos, but I just don’t have the energy to plan anything.” I get it—those first weeks are a blur of feedings, naps, and navigating your new normal. That’s why I take care of everything so you don’t have to lift a finger.
This session was a perfect example of that. We kept the vibe relaxed and low-pressure. The light in their home that day was soft and dreamy, and we let things unfold naturally—pausing when we needed to, shifting gears when the toddler needed a break, and embracing the joyful unpredictability of life with two young kids.
As a Haddonfield newborn photographer, my goal is to give you more than pretty pictures. I want to give you an experience that feels supportive, thoughtful, and easy. From wardrobe styling to artwork delivery, I’m here to guide you every step of the way so you can focus on your baby, not your to-do list.
Ideally, newborn sessions happen within the first 2-3 weeks, when babies are still very sleepy and easy to swaddle. But life with a newborn doesn’t always follow a calendar, and that’s okay! Whether your baby is ten days old or closer to a month, we’ll work with what feels right for you.
This baby girl was about two weeks old during her session, which gave her just enough time to adjust to life outside the womb while still being adorably teeny tiny and sleepy. This session wasn’t perfectly quiet or still, but it was honest and full of heart. And that’s exactly what I want my families to take away from their experience: images that feel true to this chapter, chaos and all.
Whether your baby is already here or you’re still waiting for your due date, now is the perfect time to reach out. My calendar books up quickly—especially for families in Haddonfield, Collingswood, and the surrounding South Jersey area—and I’d love to create something meaningful for you during this fleeting season.
Motherhood is full of moments you’ll want to hold onto. Let’s make sure you have beautiful, timeless photographs that do just that.
